After over 20 years of living in Catford, I finally visited this place recently and can’t believe what I’ve been missing my whole life. In a way, I’m slightly glad I’ve only just discovered it as I might have been double my size by now! This place is so so affordable and offers value for money - most people end up taking the leftovers home!
This place has been in Catford it seems for ever and whilst they have totally redone the decor the concept remains the same, quick service, big portions. The food does come up as it is ready which doesn't generally bother me I would rather eat it when cooked than when it has sat there for a few minutes. Cash only and you order at the till. Very reasonably priced for London. If I find myself in Catford again I will be back.

This place deserves an award! Been going here for over 20 years (since a main meal was about 3) and still happy to pay the 9 or so in 2024. Reasons I like it: 1. Portion sizes that don’t leave you wanting for more. 2. Super fast service. Food is normally out within 5 mins - which would normally concern me somewhere else- but this food tastes amazing! Good balance of greasiness and taste. 3. No nonsense service. You pay, you eat, you leave. No small talk, no faffing for attention at the end of your meal for the bill etc. 4. The chilli sauce on the table. Good blend of intense heat, roasted flavour and sweetness. The morning after I always get a souvenir from this sauce in the form of a 30 minute session sitting on the throne. A Colonic Irrigation at a local health club is normally 120, this sauce is free! Keep up the good work Tai Won Mein! If its not broken, don’t fix it!
The best Chinese restaurant I have ever set foot in. I first discovered it as a teenager, and I’ve been going ever since. Now in my twenties, it’s become a nostalgic favourite. The food is always piping hot and delicious. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, with tables large enough to fit a big family. There's a restroom, and it's fairly clean. Cons: They only accept cash, so if you're out with family, you might want to hit the ATM beforehand. The location isn't the best, and it is a bit pricey. The portions have noticeably shrunk over the years, while the prices have steadily increased, which is frustrating—but hey ho!
This place is a God send, everything about it is beautiful. The atmosphere, the food. It's best if you order in, they have wonderful china! My only complaint is that they only do cash which isn't a problem as there's cash points nearby. My parents used to order the same food as I did when I was born, they've been here for years, and I hope it will stay for longer
As a Chinese I highly recommend this place as it meets all my expectation with a reasonable charge. Roast Pork & Duck with fried rice is on my top list. Noodle soup is nice while beef could have tasted better. Definitely will come again if I stay in London for bit longer. What a pity!
Clean, quiet, great smelling food....and the taste is equally great! Fresh ingredients, veggies, and the prawns are heavenly! I got the house special fried rice and curried king prawns....everything was bursting with flavor!
